October 26, 2006 - Download Press Release

Company passes 3000 MW milestone just one year after breaking the 2000 MW barrier.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba.— 3TIER Inc. announced today that with the signing of additional contracts earlier this year the company is now providing operational wind energy forecasts for over 3000 MW of installed wind energy capacity throughout North America. Helping the company to reach 3000 MW was the addition of the company’s first project in Canada, the 99 MW St Leon wind energy project in Manitoba, Canada, along with projects in Montana, Washington, New York, Wyoming, Oklahoma & Texas.

“The rapid growth of 3TIER’s forecast business underscores the increasing reliance on wind energy forecasting for successful integration of this energy resource.”, said Pascal Storck, President of 3TIER North America. “Our customers subscribe to our service for many reasons. These range from needing to provide a ‘state of the art’ forecast to satisfy a Power Purchase Agreement requirement, to a desire to minimize imbalance penalties, to a need to optimally dispatch assets.” Numerous recent studies have shown that wind energy forecasting is an essential part of integrating this intermittent resource. 3TIER provides an operational wind energy forecasting service that provides forecasts from minutes to months in advance.
