Kenneth Westrick to Remain Active Chairman of Board
SEATTLE, Wash.—3TIER®, a global leader in renewable energy information services, announced today that it is searching for a CEO to replace founder, Kenneth Westrick. Mr. Westrick will step away from day-to-day leadership of the company, but will remain as chairperson of 3TIER's board of directors and will continue pursuing high-level business development opportunities. Mr. Westrick was also recently elected to the board of directors of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and intends to become more active in the development of strategies to drive global adoption of renewable energy.
"This transition reflects the continued maturation of the company, and there will be zero disruption to the level of service we provide to our clients," Westrick said. "The board of directors and 3TIER's staff remain highly committed to our long-term strategy. The investments we have made into our global renewable energy information services platform are paying off, and we don't anticipate any significant change in direction."
"Guided by Ken's vision and leadership, 3TIER has grown from a concept to a globally competitive company," said John Breckenridge, managing director at Good Energies, 3TIER's investment partner. "Ken founded the company 10 years ago, and like all start-up CEOs, he has worked tirelessly to build 3TIER into a successful company. He feels the time is right to transition to a new role that lets him focus on a few corporate opportunities that are closest to his heart, but spend a lot more time with his family, who live abroad."
Breckenridge said Westrick will continue to represent 3TIER at key industry gatherings and associations, including the delivery of a keynote address at the 91st American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting in January 2011.
Westrick will continue as CEO while 3TIER conducts an executive search. "Once a new CEO is selected, my number one priority will be to ensure a smooth transition so that he or she is successful," Westrick said. "We have built a great foundation, and I'm really looking forward to turning the reins over to a strong leader with fresh ideas who will propel the company through its next stage of growth."
