About 3TIER
People
Ask around the industry and you will hear it again and again: no company in our field is more dedicated to our clients' success than 3TIER. And If you walk the halls of any of 3TIER's offices you will find—despite tremendous diversity of backgrounds—two common denominators among our people that account for that reputation.
First, we are a bright and inquisitive bunch. More than 45% of 3TIER employees hold Masters degrees or PhD's—many in predictable fields such as meteorology, hydrology, geophysics, mechanical and electrical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and computer science and information technology. However, you will also find in our midst MBA's, graphic designers, a large contingent of web developers, and people from more esoteric educational backgrounds such as "technology and human expression." We are also a worldly bunch. Nearly half our staff speaks at least one foreign language fluently—not including those who have mastered various computer-programming languages—and we have a surprising number of employees who speak four or more languages.
The second thing our people have in common is that we don't just earn a paycheck trying to promote clean energy and sustainability—we live our lives that way. Changing how the world produces and consumes energy is a personal passion for us, and we have fun doing it. An astounding 98% of 3TIER's US staff takes public transportation, rides a bike, or walks to work at least 75% of the time.
3TIER also offsets 100% of its Seattle office's electricity use with Renewable Energy Credits from OneEnergy Renewables. This commitment helps keep approximately 246 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere and supports enough clean energy to power an average US household for 22 years. Our offices use recycled or post-consumer office supplies whenever available, the coffee we drink in our Seattle headquarters is both fair trade and organic, and even at our parties and social events we try to be as sustainable as possible by reducing waste and working with local vendors.
