Qualified candidates will have the following:

• B.S. or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Earth Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Excellent knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Ruby
• Experience working in a UNIX/Linux command-line environment
• Experience with PostgreSQL and other relational database systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• 1-5 years experience working in a commercial software development
• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven and result-oriented environment
• Commitment to good development practices such as source control, bug tracking, documentation, and unit testing
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills
• Experience working in development teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred candidates will have one or more of the following qualifications:

• Interest in renewable energy, earth, and atmospheric science
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining critical enterprise software in a SaaS model
• Experience with distributed computing environments and High Performance Computing
• Experience with large, gridded datasets, such as remote sensing and climatic data, using tools such as NetCDF or McIDAS
• Knowledge of geospatial analysis tools such as GMT, GDAL, MapServer, PostGIS, and PROJ4
• Ability to architect large operational systems using well-defined APIs and modern design patterns
• Experience working in a startup atmosphere
